KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 75 in a crucial 108-run sixth-wicket partnership with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja as India beat Australia by five wickets with 61 balls to spare in a low-scoring match. With the win at the Wankhede Stadium, India have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. After India won the toss and captain Hardik Pandya elected to bowl first, the pace duo of Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj broke Australia’s back and the entire team was bundled out for just 188 runs. However, in a low-scoring match, India’s batsmen could not do much and lost 5 wickets for 83 runs. But after that the pair of Rahul and Jadeja won India.

There were many ups and downs in this match played at Wankhede, first of all Australian batsman Mitchell Marsh played a brilliant inning of 81 runs in 65 balls, then it seemed that the batsmen were going to dominate today, but it did not happen. The bowlers did better except Marsh, Rahul and Jadeja.

Chasing 189 runs, the Indian batsmen did not have a good start and lost their first wicket in the form of Ishan Kishan at the score of 5. Rahul completed his half-century in 71 balls, a match-winning 108-run partnership for the 6th wicket between Rahul and Jadeja saw the Indian team achieve this target in 39.5 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Jadeja and Rahul took India to victory, sharing an unbeaten century partnership to dash Australia’s hopes of victory.
