Islamabad, 10 February (HS). The people of Pakistan have showered a lot of love on jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the general elections. Till now the results of 253 seats have been declared. Of these, Khan’s party, supported by Pakistan-Tehreek-e-Insaf, is at the forefront by winning 92 independent elections.

According to the report of Dawn newspaper, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League (N) party has got 71 seats. Now the results of only 12 seats are yet to come. Voting is held for 266 out of 336 seats of the National Assembly in the country. Voting on one seat was postponed after a candidate was killed in the Bajaur attack. Bilawal Zardari Bhutto’s Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has got only 54 seats. JUIF got three seats and others got 33 seats.

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan is in jail and is banned from contesting elections. Due to this, 71-year-old Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate contested the elections as an independent after the Supreme Court had upheld the Election Commission’s decision to deprive the party of its election symbol ‘cricket bat’. It is now clear from the results of vote counting that no one has the required 133 seats to form a new government. The new government will be formed only through manipulation.
