A cult classic that taught us great life lessons
15 Years Of Wake Up Sid: Released on October 2, 2009, Wake Up Sid is a film which made a special place in the hearts of youngsters. This film starring Ranbir Kapoor and Konkana Sen Sharma not only created a stir at the box office, but also became a cult classic which people remember even today. This film taught us many such lessons of life which fit somewhere in all of our lives.
Today, on the occasion of the film’s 15th anniversary, let’s look at the important life lessons we learned from ‘Wake Up Sid’.
1. It is very important to get out of the comfort zone
The biggest message of the film is that one cannot move ahead in life by always staying in the comfort zone. Just like Ayesha took a stand in her life and came to Mumbai with new dreams, similarly we too should take big decisions in our life, no matter how difficult they may seem.
2. Facing fear is the real victory
It was my dream to come to Mumbai, and now that I am here I cannot be afraid. This dialogue of Ayesha teaches us that instead of running away from fear, we should face it. The bigger the dream, the bigger the challenges, but there is victory over fear.
3. It is important to live every moment
This dialogue of Sid from Who Cares Kal Kya Hoga… As Long As We Have Some Fun Tonight became a vibe for the entire generation. No matter how much tension there is in life, sometimes it is important to live in the moment and enjoy happiness.
4. Real fun lies in small joys
This is also a party… you, me and two cups of tea. The film taught us that there is no need to find happiness only in big things. Small things like drinking tea with friends or talking till late night, these are the real joys of life.
5. Failure does not define you
I don’t know what to do, but now I just have to work. This realization of Sid relates to every person who ever feels lost in life. Failure does not mean that you cannot do anything, but this is the opportunity when you have to create your own identity.
6. True love is what makes you better
The joy of achieving goals comes when you can share them with someone. The film taught us that love is not just romance, but a feeling that helps you become a better person.
