Shahrukh Khan’s film ‘Jawaan’ has been the highest grossing film in Indian cinema in 2023. The film grossed over Rs 1100 crore at the global box office, but after its release on Netflix, the film created a new record. The film, directed by Atlee, was released in theaters on September 7 and about three months later, on Shahrukh’s birthday, on November 2, the film was released on the streaming platform without any cuts.

The film has remained in the list of top 10 films (non-English) globally for the last two weeks. Within two weeks of its release on Netflix, it has reigned as the most watched film in India. In India’s top 10 list, versions of ‘Javaan’ in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil occupy three positions out of ten.

Shahrukh expressed happiness over ‘Jawaan’ becoming the most watched film in India. He said, “I am happy to share that Jawan is the most watched film in India on Netflix. Releasing the extended edition was our way of expressing our gratitude to our fans for giving their unwavering love and support to the film. The overwhelming response we have received from Netflix audiences is a testament to the talent of Indian cinema. Jaawan is not just a film, it is a celebration of storytelling, passion and the vibrant spirit of our cinema and I couldn’t be more proud of its success on Netflix.”

‘Jawaan’ starring Nayanthara, Deepika Padukone, Vijay Sethupathi, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra became the second hit for Shahrukh this year. ‘Jawaan’ was directed by Atlee and produced by Gauri Khan. The film was released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu in theaters worldwide on September 7, 2023. Earlier this year, Shahrukh was seen in ‘Pathan’, which earned over Rs 1000 crore at the global box office.
