The Uttar Pradesh government has purchased 31 acres of land in Ganjari village of Rajatalab tehsil and Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) This land will be handed over by the end of this month to build an international level cricket stadium in Varanasi.

BCCI officials visited the venue

Earlier this week, BCCI Secretary Jai Shah and Vice President Rajeev Shukla had also visited Varanasi to take stock of the preparations for the stadium. UPCA director Yudhveer Singh told PTI on Sunday that the Uttar Pradesh government has identified about 31 acres of land in Ganjari village of Rajatalab tehsil for the construction of an international cricket stadium in Varanasi.

Government will give 31 acres of land in Ganjari village

Varanasi Commissioner (Commissioner) Kaushal Raj Sharma said that the UP government has bought 31 acres of land from farmers for about Rs 120 crore in Ganjari village of Rajatalab tehsil. This land will be given to UPCA on lease for 30 years at the end of this month. In lieu of lease, UPCA will give 10 lakh rupees every year to the UP government. After this UPCA will build its stadium on it. Sharma told that there is a possibility that in May-June this year, the foundation stone of this first international cricket stadium of eastern Uttar Pradesh will be laid by the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The stadium will be ready by 2024

UPCA director Singh told about the first international cricket stadium to be built in Kashi that this will be the third stadium in UP after Kanpur and Lucknow where international cricket matches will be played. There are already Green Park in Kanpur and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. He told that the construction of this international cricket stadium to be built in Varanasi will start from May-June this year and it is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.

The stadium will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities

Singh told that the capacity of this proposed international stadium will be 30 thousand spectators and it will be built according to international standards. The construction of this stadium is estimated to cost about three hundred crore rupees. The stadium will be equipped with modern facilities and resources. UPCA Secretary Arvind Kumar Srivastava said that the BCCI Secretary and Vice President had also visited Varanasi earlier this week to take stock of the preparations for this stadium.
