Amid dispute with China over Arunachal Pradesh, India fired BrahMos missile from Andaman

The Army said the accuracy and power of the supersonic cruise missile demonstrated during the exercise underlines the Indian Army’s commitment to conventional deterrence.

It said the Rising Sun BrahMos warriors demonstrated their potential as a formidable force for peace and security in the Indo-Pacific region. The BrahMos missile, one of the world’s fastest cruise missiles capable of speeds around Mach 3, flew high over the islands.

According to the Indian Army, the calculated strike hit the target accurately. The Army said the event is a poignant reminder of India’s steadfast dedication to protecting its sovereignty and promoting regional stability. BrahMos is a versatile missile system and is capable of being launched from a variety of platforms including ships, submarines, aircraft and land-based mobile launchers.
