Ahmedabad (Best Hindu News): The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) on Saturday increased the price of Amul milk by Rs 2 per liter in the state. This is the first increase in milk prices after the state assembly elections in December 2022.

The GCMMF, which is the apex body of milk cooperatives in the state, usually announces the hike in milk prices well in advance, but did not do so this time. Sources suggest that the rise in prices is due to increase in the cost of milk production due to rising prices of fodder and transportation.

After the price revision, Amul buffalo milk is now priced at Rs 68 per litre, while Amul Gold is priced at Rs 64 per liter and Amul Shakti at Rs 58 per litre. Amul cow’s milk now costs Rs 54 per litre, Amul fresh Rs 52 per liter and Amul T-Special Rs 60 per litre.

While the GCMMF had hiked the prices of various brands of Amul milk twice across India in the last six months, Gujarat was exempted. However, ahead of the assembly elections in the state, Amul had raised rates by Rs 2 per liter in October 2022 and then by Rs 3 per liter in February 2023 for all markets except Gujarat.
