Mumbai: Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ may have been liked by the audience, but the director considers the film a ‘curse’.

Film maker Anurag Kashyap is busy promoting his film ‘Kennedy’. Recently, his film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, where it received an 8-minute standing ovation.

Talking about the experience of screening ‘Kennedy’ at the Grand Theater Lumiere in the midnight screening section, Kashyap poked fun at himself by referring to his film ‘Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat’.

He told Brut India: It was really awesome, this is my first film at the Théâtre Lumiere, with 2,500 people applauding the film. The number of viewers who saw my last film ‘Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat’ was much more than that. I broke all those records in one screening.

He further talked about ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ which is his most successful film.

He said: ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ is the curse of my life. I hate ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ because everyone expects me to make the same kind of films which I never want to do again in my life. I want to make different kind of films.

He then added that it was an attempt to make different films, which led to ‘Black Friday’, ‘Dev D’ and ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’.

He said, ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ is always available on Netflix. I want to move on and for me making cinema like ‘Kennedy’ is more personal.

‘Kennedy’ stars Sunny Leone, Rahul Bhatt and Abhilash Thapliyal.(IANS)
