On March 31, the couple claimed that they were threatened with physical violence and destruction of their business by Khalsa Aid, an organization suspected of holding an inclusive Vaisakhi fair.

A group of pro-Khalistani elements disrupted a program organized to celebrate Vaisakhi festival in Adelaide, capital of South Australia. The event was organized by the ‘Punjabi Australian Association of South Australia’ where Consul General of India in Sydney, Manish Gupta was invited as the chief guest. The organization that organizes this event is run by a Hindu-Sikh couple. Couple Harmeet Kaur and Rajesh Thakur have reportedly been organizing the festival for several years. They have alleged that for the past two years, they have been receiving threats from the dubious organization Khalsa Aid for organizing the event.

On March 31, the couple claimed that they were threatened with physical violence and destruction of their business by Khalsa Aid, an organization suspected of holding an inclusive Vaisakhi fair. The couple claimed that they had also received a boycott call on social media from a person named Sarabjit Singh Pipli. Harmeet Kaur further claimed that Khalistani supporters are behind the threatening messages. He said that Sarabjit Singh Pipli told him on the call that he would not tolerate any disrespect in the name of Baisakhi and the festival was an ‘insult to lions’.

Last year, the couple was allegedly threatened by Gurinderjit Singh Jassar, the South Australian coordinator of the dubious organization Khalsa Aid, who allegedly made threatening phone calls to the couple, demanding the fair be renamed. Thakur claimed that Jassar said, “Vaisakhi belongs to us (Sikhs).” When Thakur refused to bow down, Jassar reportedly became aggressive on the call and accused him of sexually assaulting Utsav.
