Gilgit-Baltistan Principal Secretary Mohiuddin Wani confirmed the avalanche and said rescue teams were working in the affected area. Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid Khan expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in the avalanche. He also directed the local authorities to speed up the rescue operation.
