Babar Azam congratulated Australia on becoming world champion for the sixth time

Ahmedabad. Babar Azam, who stepped down from the captaincy of Pakistan a few days ago, congratulated Australia for their spectacular victory after defeating India by six wickets in the final of the World Cup 2023 and winning the trophy for the sixth time.

Thanks to Travis Head’s brilliant century, Australia easily defeated India by achieving the target of 241 runs with six wickets remaining.

Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam shared a post on Instagram and wrote, “Congratulations Australia. What a strong performance in the final.”

Australia restricted India to just 240 runs after coming to bat first. Mitchell Starc took three wickets while Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cumming took two wickets each.

In reply, Australia registered an easy victory on the basis of Travis Head’s century. Head scored 137 runs in 120 balls and made a match-winning partnership with Marbis Labuschagne. Both the batsmen added 192 runs in the fourth wicket partnership to take Australia to the finishing line.

Labuschagne remained unbeaten on 58 and Glenn Maxwell scored the winning runs for Australia. In this way Australia won the sixth World Cup title.
