Bhubaneswar girls won rugby gold

Lucknow (Uttam Hindu News): The girls of KIIT, Bhubaneswar and the boys of Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune have won the rugby title of the Khelo India University Games-2022 being held in Uttar Pradesh for the first time. KIIT girls defeated University of Mumbai 56-0 while Bharati Vidyapeeth men defeated KIIT 19-10 in their respective category finals at the Guru Gobind Singh College ground on Friday. The bronze medal in this category was won by Lovely Professional University.

On Friday itself, Babu Banarasi Das Badminton Academy Hall saw a series of table tennis matches, in which SRM University beat Chitkara University 3-0 and Adams University beat Calcutta University 3-1 in the women’s semi-finals. In the men’s section, Chitkara University made it to the finals where they will face Chandigarh University. Semi-finals of women’s section will be played in volleyball on Saturday. In the first match, Panjab University, Chandigarh will take on Punjabi University, Patiala, while in the second match, SRM University-Chennai will take on Adamas University, Calcutta.

Hockey matches started on Friday at the International Hockey Stadium located in the Guru Gobind Singh Sports College campus. In the men’s section, Sambalpur University-Odisha beat Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth 1-0 while GNDU-Amritsar beat Savitribai Phule-Pune University 4-0. Similarly, Bangalore City University played out a 4-4 draw with Veer Bahadur Purvanchal University-Jaunpur. In the final match Punjabi University, Patiala defeated Lovely Professional University 4-3. In the ongoing men’s football matches in Lucknow, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University-Punjab beat Punjab University 3-2 while Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala played out a 2-2 draw with Adams University.
