Talking to reporters here, Vaishnav said that indigenously made 4G telecom equipment has been deployed by BSNL at 200 locations between Chandigarh and Dehradun. At the most, BSNL’s 4G service will start in the next two weeks, he said.

Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Wednesday said that state-run BSNL will start offering 4G services at 200 locations in the next two weeks. Talking to reporters here, Vaishnav said that indigenously made 4G telecom equipment has been deployed by BSNL at 200 locations between Chandigarh and Dehradun. At the most, BSNL’s 4G service will start in the next two weeks, he said. Along with this, he said that by November-December this year, BSNL’s 4G network will be upgraded to 5G.

BSNL has placed advance orders worth over Rs 19,000 crore to TCS and ITI for setting up 4G network. These devices will be installed at more than 1.23 lakh locations across the country. Vaishnav said, you will be surprised to see the speed with which BSNL will set up the network. After three months of trial run, we will start setting up network at 200 places a day. Initially this network will work as 4G and by November-December it will be converted into 5G with a few software updates.
