Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that by solving small problems of farmers, their income can increase by 20 percent. Chouhan met members of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (Independent) as part of his ‘Seedha Samvad’ initiative that started on September 24. During this he discussed various challenges affecting the agriculture sector.

New Delhi. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that by solving small problems of farmers, their income can increase by up to 20 percent. Chouhan met members of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (Independent) as part of his ‘Seedha Samvad’ initiative that started on September 24. During this he discussed various challenges affecting the agriculture sector. Describing service to farmers as worship of God, Chauhan said, “These problems may seem small, but solving them can increase the income of farmers by 10 to 20 percent.”

An official statement said that at the meeting, representatives of the Bharatiya Kisan Union discussed the replacement of contaminated factory water and burnt out transformers in a short time. During the discussion, there was also talk on reducing the cost of crops, ensuring fair prices and preventing waterlogging. Furthermore, excessive use of pesticides, its effects on health and access to government schemes like PM Fasal Bima Yojana were discussed. Chouhan committed to meet farmers and representatives of agricultural organizations every Tuesday to resolve various challenges. The objective of the Samvaad initiative is to establish direct communication between the Ministry and farming communities to accelerate problem resolution and increase agricultural productivity.
