NIAGARA FALLS (CANADA): The Niagara region of Canada’s Ontario province is busy welcoming people coming to watch the solar eclipse. More than 10 lakh tourists are expected to come here during this period. There will be a total solar eclipse on 8th April. This will be the first solar eclipse in this Canadian province since 1979. Niagara Falls has been declared one of the best places to view the solar eclipse by the ‘National Geographic’ channel. Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati said in early March that he expected the city would see the most tourists ever in a single day during the solar eclipse.

The local body of Niagara has also started preparations in this regard. A state of emergency has been declared for the day on Thursday, citing severe traffic jams, huge demand for emergency services and problems with mobile phone networks.

The total solar eclipse will pass through North America, Mexico, the United States and Canada. A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, completely hiding the Sun’s rays. The sun’s rays will be completely blocked for a few minutes in the city of Niagara.
