Captain Steel will partner in Sourav Ganguly’s Salboni project – Dainik Savera Times

Kolkata: Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly’s proposed steel plant at Salboni, West Medinipur in West Bengal will be set up in collaboration with Captain Steel. Captain Steel director Sanjay Gupta said on Saturday that the intention is to set up an integrated steel plant with the support of Ganguly and for this the state government has also been requested to provide 600-700 acres of land.
Gupta, a close friend of Ganguly, while indicating that land has been allotted for the plant, said that under this project with an estimated cost of Rs 2,500 crore, the target is to set up an integrated steel plant with a capacity of 10 lakh tonne. He expressed hope that the company will soon get the necessary licenses related to this project. He said, “Our intention is to start production from this plant in two and a half years.
Gupta said that Captain Steel will be the main investor in this project and Ganguly’s interests will also be decided later. Ganguly has been the brand ambassador of the company’s flagship product Captain TMT Bar for the last 15 years. Thanking state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for approving the project, Ganguly said, “We are starting the construction of our third steel plant in Bengal.
Many people may think I am just playing the game but we started a small steel plant in 2007. The construction of our new steel plant in Medinipur will also start in five to six months. Ganguly, who belongs to an industrialist family of West Bengal, also participated in the Madrid Roadshow of ‘Bengal Global Business Summit’ along with the Chief Minister on Thursday.
