Center to direct PFRDA to refund deposits under NPS: Sukhu

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday urged the Center to direct the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) to refund the amount of Rs 9,242.60 crore deposited by the state government under the New Pension Scheme (NPS). Instructions should be issued. According to the statement issued by the Information Department of Himachal Pradesh, the Chief Minister made this request in the Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog. He said that the central government should issue a direction to the PFRDA to refund the amount of Rs 9,242.60 crore deposited by the state government under NPS.

The Chief Minister also urged not to reduce the last fiscal year’s deposits of Rs 1,779 crore under NPS from the borrowing limit of the current financial year. He said that the earlier position should be restored with the removal of the cap on the state receiving external aid for the next three years. He sought the intervention of the Central Government for speedy approval of the proposals submitted to the Central Economic Affairs Department. He also urged for 100 per cent central funding for the Bhanupalli-Bilaspur-Leh railway line and to consider the land acquisition cost as state contribution.
