The central government has taken action against 76 pharmaceutical companies in 20 states for producing substandard drugs. Also, licenses of 18 companies have been suspended and show cause notices have been issued to 26. Along with this, the permission for the product of three companies has been cancelled.

According to a top official source, officials of the Drug Controller General of India have been visiting Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Puducherry, Punjab for the last 15 days. , Rajasthan, Telangana, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal are conducting investigations. The joint drive by the Center and states was aimed at curbing the production of substandard drugs and ensuring good manufacturing practices.
