London: Cameron Green, who took the controversial catch of opener Shubman Gill, and the Indian supporters present here hooted fiercely. Just before tea, Gill’s shot off Scott Boland reached gully, where Green dived to take a catch, but the ball almost touched the ground. Gill scored 18 and was batting well in a 41-run partnership with Rohit Sharma. At tea, Indian captain Rohit returned to the pavilion talking to the on-field umpires. Green took such a catch for the second time. He also took the catch of Ajinkya Rahane in the first innings and from some angles of the camera it seemed that the ball had touched the grass. There were cries of ‘cheat, chit, chit’ after Gill’s catch and it got louder when Green came in to bowl.
Harbhajan Singh, former India spinner and commentator in this match, said, ‘There was no result from the replays, they should have zoomed in on his fingers. This wicket may cost India dearly. Talking about the match, Australia has set a record target of 444 runs in front of India to win the final. In response to which Team India has scored 164 runs for three wickets in the second innings till the end of the fourth day’s play. India is still 280 runs short of the target. Virat Kohli is playing on 44 and Ajinkya Rahane is playing on 20 runs.
