Chhath Puja 2023, Kharna Prasad Recipe: Chhath Puja is celebrated every year on the Shashti Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. This year a special coincidence is taking place in Chhath Puja. Chhath Puja is starting on 17th November with Amrityoga and Raviyoga. Chhath Puja is done for the attainment of a child or for the happy life of the child. According to the astrologer, an auspicious combination is taking place on this Chhath Puja. Because Sunday is dedicated to Lord Sun and the first Arghya is being offered on Sunday itself which is very auspicious.

On the second day of Chhath Parva, Chhath Vraati observes Nirjala fast along with Kharna. Kharna means purification. The purpose of this puja is to keep the body and mind pure before the beginning of the difficult fast for Arghya. In Kharna, kheer made of jaggery and rice is offered as bhog. The devotee takes the prasad of jaggery and kheer and keeps a waterless fast for 36 hours. Earthen stove and mango wood are used in making this Prasad. Kheer made from jaggery has a different significance on the day of Kharna. After making the Prasad, Lord Surya is worshipped, and the Prasad is offered to him first. After this the fasting women consume it. After the fasting women consume the prasad, it is distributed among the people. After this the 36-hour waterless fast begins.
