Minister of Cabinet Sub-Committee, Forest and Climate Change and Cooperation Minister Kedar Kashyap, Health and Family Welfare and 20 Point Implementation Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal and Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Tankaram Verma attended the meeting. Officials said that keeping in mind the festival of Diwali and the Rajyotsav on the State Foundation Day, discussions were also held regarding starting paddy procurement from November 15. However, the final decision in this regard will be taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai.
He said that it was also decided to purchase paddy at the rate of 21 quintals per acre at support price from registered farmers in the state. All procurement centers have also been asked to make arrangements for ‘electronic weighing machines’. The official said that the Cabinet Sub-Committee also decided to purchase jute bags through Jute (Jute) Commissionerate and ‘GEM Portal’ so that the procurement of paddy can be streamlined and jute bags can be easily available to the farmers. In the last Kharif season, a record 144.92 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was procured at support price in the state and it is estimated that it will reach 160 lakh metric tonnes in the current season. The official said that procurement will be done through 2,058 cooperative societies and 2,739 paddy procurement centers in the state.
