Children’s screen time can be reduced by using the phone for just one minute!
New York. A research has revealed that an experiment can improve the classroom performance of students by reducing their screen time. Along with this, parents can also get relief from this addiction of children.
A team of American researchers conducted a long-term experiment. This experiment revealed that allowing students to use their phones for just one minute can reduce phone use during class and improve their test scores on exams.
“We show that a technology break can reduce cell phone use in a college classroom,” said Professor Ryan Radner, a researcher at Southern Illinois University and first author of the study. “This is the first evaluation of a technology break in a college classroom.” “
Researchers found that students in class sessions where technology breaks were provided performed better on tests (by more than 80 percent).
Radner said that in this we saw that students got less distracted while studying, due to which they were able to perform better.
Children can get distracted by using phones. Students use their phones up to 10 times a day for non-academic purposes. Phones are not allowed in classrooms.
However, throughout the session the researchers closely evaluated the impact of technology breaks of one, two or four minutes.
Students were not allowed to use their phones during these breaks, but were encouraged to ask questions. Breaks were given after 15 minutes of class study.
The research results revealed that during technology breaks lasting just one minute, phone usage was at its lowest. Staying away from the phone for just one minute reduces students’ phone usage to a minimum, and is the most effective method in reducing phone addiction. This has reduced children’s phone usage.
