Riyadh . Cristiano Ronaldo scored as Saudi Arabia’s Al Nasr beat Qatar’s Al Rayyan 2-1 in an AFC Champions League elite group stage match on Monday. Five-time Ballon d’Or award winner Ronaldo missed the team’s first match, a 1-1 draw against Iraq’s Al Shorta two weeks ago, due to a viral infection. On Monday, one of his goals was ruled offside but 14 minutes before the end of the match, he scored another goal to ensure the team’s victory.
Former Liverpool forward Sadio Mane gave Al Nasr the lead just before half-time while Ronaldo made it 2-0. Three minutes before the end of the match, Roger Guedes scored a goal for Al Rayyan but could not save the team from defeat. In other matches, Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli registered its second consecutive win by defeating UAE’s Al Wasl 2-0 while Qatar’s Al Sadd defeated Iran’s Esteghlal by the same margin. The match between Persepolis of Iran and Pakhtakor of Uzbekistan ended 1-1.
