Earlier this deadline was set as 14 September 2024, which has now been extended to 14 December 2024. This means that Aadhaar holders can now update their Aadhaar information online without any charges for the next 90 days. This is a matter of great relief, especially for those who have not updated their information yet.
To avail this service, Aadhaar holders will have to visit the official website of UIDAI, as this facility is available only through online medium. However, it is worth noting that the free update service is only for correcting or updating the information already entered in the Aadhaar card. - After that select MY Aadhar section Then click on “My Aadhaar” and select the option “Update Your Aadhaar”.
- Go to Aadhaar Self Service Portal (SSUP): Now you will get the option of “Update Demographics Data Online”. By clicking on this, reach the Aadhaar Self Service Portal (SSUP).
- Login with Aadhaar number: Enter your Aadhaar number and fill the captcha code. Then click on “Send OTP”. Login by entering the OTP received on the registered mobile number.

- Upload supporting documents: Upload the scanned copy of the required certificate (like passport, PAN card, Voter ID, etc.) to update the name.

How to update address in Aadhar card online
Steps to update address in Aadhaar card online
- First of all the official website of UIDAI UIDAI official website go to
- Click on “My Aadhaar”: Click on “My Aadhaar” tab on the homepage and select “Update Your Aadhaar” option.
- Login: Click on “Update Address Online”. After this you will have to login by entering your Aadhaar number or virtual ID and captcha.
- OTP Verification: After login, an OTP (One Time Password) will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter it and verify it.
- Address Update Request: After login, click on “Proceed to Update Address”. Now enter your new address and click on “Submit” button.
- Upload Proof: Upload a scanned copy of a valid address proof with the new address. Documents like bank statement, passport, electricity bill etc. are accepted.
- Review and Submit: Review all information and submit if correct.
- Note the URN number: After submitting the request, you will receive an Update Request Number (URN). Through this URN you can track the status of your application.

- Select My Aadhaar section: Click on “My Aadhaar” and select “Update Your Aadhaar” option.
- Go to Aadhaar Self Service Portal (SSUP): After this click on the option of “Update Demographics Data Online”, through which you will reach the Aadhaar Self Service Portal (SSUP).
- login: Enter your Aadhaar number and fill the captcha code. Then click on “Send OTP”. An OTP will come on your registered mobile number, enter it and login.
- Update date of birth: After login, select “Date of Birth (DOB)” option and enter your correct date of birth.
- Upload supporting documents: For date of birth update, you will have to upload a valid document as proof. This document can be passport, birth certificate, 10th class certificate, or other document recognized by UIDAI. Upload the scanned copy of the document.

- Receive URN: After successful application you will get an “Update Request Number (URN)”. With this you can track the status of your updates.
Usually it takes 5-7 working days for the date of birth to be updated, and it will be reflected in your Aadhaar card once it is updated. Note that date of birth can only be updated once online, so make sure you have entered the correct information.

After updating Aadhaar online, you can also easily order PVC Aadhaar card. PVC Aadhar Card is a small and secure card, which comes with your Aadhar information. You can get it delivered at home.

- Enter Aadhar Number or VID: After this enter your 12 digit Aadhaar number or 16 digit Virtual ID (VID). Also, fill the captcha code shown on the screen.
- Verification through OTP: An OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar. Verify by entering OTP. If your mobile number is not linked to Aadhaar, you can also order PVC card using a non-registered mobile number.
- Preview and Payment: After OTP verification, a preview of your Aadhar card information will appear on the screen. Check it and then click on “Make Payment” button to make payment.
- Payment Process: For payment, you will have to pay a fee of Rs 50, which you can do through credit card, debit card, UPI, or net banking.
Order Confirmation: After successful payment, you will get a confirmation and an SRN (Service Request Number), through which you can track the delivery status of your PVC Aadhar Card.
