FIFA bans Cameroon FA chief Samuel Eto’o from attending matches for 6 months – Dainik Savera Times
Yaoundé: World football governing body FIFA has banned Cameroon Football Federation president Samuel Eto’o from participating in national team matches for six months for breaching FIFA’s disciplinary code. The ban relates to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup round-of-16 match between Brazil and Cameroon, which was held in Colombia in early September.
FIFA said the former Barcelona striker was guilty of “aggressive behavior and a breach of the principles of fair play and misconduct towards players and officials” during the match, although it did not provide specific details of his actions. As a result, according to FIFA, Eto’o has been banned from participating in men’s and women’s matches involving Cameroon Football Federation teams in all categories and age groups.
Cameroon Football Federation officials said they were preparing a response to the ban, calling it “regrettable”. Eto’o, who has been serving as president of the Cameroon Football Federation since 2021, will remain in his role as the ban will not affect his presidency.
