From Ravi Teja to Prabhas-Ramcharan and now Junior NTR, what is this theory which is being discussed a lot on the internet?
Decoding SS Rajamouli Curse: Be it Bollywood or Tollywood, working with SS Rajamouli is every actor’s dream. After all, he has made blockbuster films like Bahubali and RRR, but a strange theory is going viral on the internet that after working in Rajamouli’s film, the actor’s next film proves to be a superflop. People have started calling it ‘Rajamouli Curse’. Now I don’t know how much of this is reality, but it is definitely an interesting theory.
Prabhas case
In the year 2005, Rajamouli cast Prabhas in his film Chhatrapati. The film proved to be a big hit and Prabhas became a star overnight. But soon after this, Prabhas’s next film Pournami flopped. A few years later, Prabhas again worked with Rajamouli in the Baahubali series, which grossed Rs 2500 crore worldwide. But the same thing happened again, his next film Saaho and then Radhe Shyam both failed at the box office.
Ravi Teja’s story
Famous South actor Ravi Teja also worked with Rajamouli in Vikramarkudu, which was a superhit. But his next film Kharagat flopped. This pattern was clearly visible here also.
Ramcharan and Rajamouli
Ramcharan’s first film with Rajamouli was Magadheera, which released in 2009 and was a hit at the box office. But his next film Orange was completely rejected by the audience. However, Ramcharan again worked with Rajamouli in RRR, which proved to be a big hit. But then the same thing happened, his next film Acharya flopped.
Now it’s Junior NTR’s turn
The pairing of Junior NTR and Rajamouli has also been amazing. Both his films Student No. 1 and Sinhadri proved to be blockbusters. But again the same pattern was seen when his next film Andharwala flopped badly. After RRR, his new film Devra has also not done well at the box office as expected.
So what is the curse of Rajamouli?
The reason for this discussion happening on the internet is that the actor gets such huge success in Rajamouli’s films that the expectations after that start touching the sky. But not every film can be like Bahubali or RRR, and perhaps this is the reason why it has become common for the next film to flop after Rajamouli’s films.
