Help should be taken from MS Dhoni, Sachin and Yuvraj, advice of former Australian legend before the World Cup

Help should be taken from MS Dhoni, Sachin and Yuvraj, advice of former Australian legend before the World Cup

When Team India won the ICC World Cup in 2011 after 28 years, Sachin Tendulkar (Sachin Tendulkar), Yuvraj Singh and ms dhoni (MS Dhoni) played important roles. Playing his last World Cup, Tendulkar scored the highest score of 482 runs for India in the tournament. Yuvraj was adjudged the best player of the tournament with 357 runs and 15 wickets. The then captain Dhoni, who was out of form throughout the tournament, gave his best performance in the title match. He gave that glory to India by playing a brilliant inning of 91 not out.

Dhoni, Sachin, Yuvraj should get some role

Three greats of Indian cricket have retired and now the command of repeating history is with Rohit Sharma, as the World Cup is returning to India after 12 years. Meanwhile, Australia’s three-time World Cup winner Adam Gilchrist feels that to boost India’s chances, the team management should turn to star trio MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh before the cricket mega-event.

Dhoni was made mentor in 2021 T20 World Cup

Of these three, only MS Dhoni was associated with the team in a role after his retirement. He was named mentor for India’s T20 World Cup in 2021. Whereas Yuvraj and Tendulkar have stayed away from any role with the Indian team. But having said that, Gilchrist believes that now is the ideal time for these legends to spend some time with the Indian team. In which Virat Kohli is the only World Cup winner.

The experience of playing in India will be great

Gilchrist told Sportstar, ‘I can’t claim to know what it’s like to be an Indian player, to play in India (laughs). It’s always interesting. If I had been in the Indian team, I would have got a chance to play with people like Sachin (Tendulkar). If he is available, MS (Dhoni) should come and spend time with the team, and share all his experiences. I would have tried to bring in people like Yuvraj (Singh), who had a lot going on in his life during 2011.

Virat Kohli was part of the 2011 World Cup winning team

Gilchrist further said, ‘Virat, despite obviously not being a key member of the team at that time, was a part of that team. I wanted to take advantage of that experience of playing a home World Cup and try to understand how those guys did it. If you can keep the outside noise quiet, it allows you to play your best cricket. He said these things while enumerating the benefits of the World Cup on home ground.

India vs Australia series will be better preparation: Gilchrist

A little more than 15 days are left for the World Cup to start. India’s final stop will be a three-match ODI series against Australia starting on Friday. The team for which has been announced on Monday. The three matches will be held in Mohali, Rajkot and Indore and Gilchrist believes this could be the perfect preparation for the two favorites to lift the trophy on November 19. The World Cup involves a lot of travel for both India and Australia. With the players resting and moving around, Gilchrist says both teams could not have asked for a better blueprint just ahead of the world’s biggest cricket tournament.

The depth of the team will be known

The former wicketkeeper batsman said, ‘The venue and the conditions created will play an important role in how strong preparation this is for Australia and India. They are two teams that will definitely compete for the title1 so going up against some of the best teams in the world in Indian conditions will be a real benchmark to see how you are travelling. How are you progressing in the tournament? There will be some jostling between players and some will be rested for a game or two. The depth of the team will be tested, provided the wickets are similar to what you will get in the World Cup.
