Dubai. India and Australia will be face to face in the ICC World Test Championship Final 2023 to be held next month. The International Cricket Council on Friday announced that the winning team of the tournament will get $1.6 million (about Rs 13.21 crore) as prize money.

The ICC on Friday informed that huge prize money apart from a resounding victory in the longest format of the game will be major incentives for both the teams. The losing finalist will get $800,000 (Rs 6.50 crore). The decider of the Championship will be played at The Oval, London, from June 7 to 11, with June 12 being the reserve day.

The prize money of the World Test Championship is the same as that of the inaugural edition of the championship. The ICC World Test Championship 2019-21 had a total purse of $3.8 million. The Kane Williamson-led New Zealand team received a prize of $1.6 million in addition to a spectacular mace in Southampton two years ago, courtesy an eight-wicket win over India in the six-day final.

A late resurgence in the two-year cycle with an aggressive playing style, England finished fourth on the table and will be rewarded with $350,000.

Sri Lanka, who were in contention for a finals berth before their series defeat in New Zealand, slipped to fifth place. His prize money share is $200,000.

Sixth-ranked New Zealand, seventh-ranked Pakistan, eighth-ranked West Indies and ninth-ranked Bangladesh will get $100,000 each.(IANS)
