India condemns attack on Sikh student in Canada – Dainik Savera Times

Toronto: India on Saturday condemned the incident of attack, including the use of ‘bear spray’, on a 17-year-old Sikh student from the British Columbia province of Canada. Also urged the local authorities to investigate the incident and take immediate action against the culprits. The incident occurred on September 11 when the Sikh student was going home from school in Kelowna. However, the name of the student has not been disclosed. Bear spray is used to prevent bear attacks. This spray contains flammable ingredients.
The Kelowna Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said in a statement on September 11 that the attack occurred around 4 p.m. at a bus stop at the intersection of Rutland Road and Robson Road in the city of Okanagan. “There was a dispute between the two parties inside the bus, due to which all the people involved in the dispute were deboarded from the bus,” the statement said. “After getting off the bus, the suspect used bear spray on the victim.”
India’s Consulate General in Vancouver strongly condemned the attack. He posted on the social media platform On September 13, a youth involved in the incident that took place on September 11 was arrested.
Police said in the statement that investigators will review the video and review additional evidence to determine what happened before all parties were removed from the bus.
