India welcomes efforts for humanitarian pause in Israel-Hamas conflict

India welcomed efforts for a humanitarian pause in the Israel-Hamas conflict and efforts by the international community to de-escalate tensions and provide immediate humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine.

India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj, said at an informal meeting of the UN General Assembly Plenary Session on the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip that the message from the Indian leadership has been “clear and logical”.

“India welcomes all steps by the international community that seek to de-escalate the conflict and enable immediate delivery of humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine,” Kamboj said.

“We strongly oppose terrorism in all its forms,” he said. We are clearly against violence. We call for international humanitarian law to be followed, for further escalation of tensions to be prevented, for humanitarian aid to continue to flow, for the unconditional release of all hostages, and for all parties to work towards an early restoration of peace and stability. Kamboj said that in the same direction, “we also welcome efforts for a humanitarian pause in the war.”
