San Francisco. Apple is planning to release a new feature that will turn a locked iPhone into a Smart Home-style display with iOS 17. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the phone’s interface will display information such as calendar appointments, weather and whether notifications are locked.

Gurman also mentioned that the interface would work similarly to smart home devices from Google and Amazon.

Furthermore, the report mentions that the feature will use a combination of dark background and bright text combination, which will be readable even from a distance.

While Gurman claims that Apple is working on bringing this smart home feature to the iPad, he points out that the company doesn’t roll out the feature to the iPad as quickly as it does to the iPhone, because the iPhone’s lock screen widgets are not yet available. Not yet available on iPad.

The report further states that the tech giant is planning to bring significant changes to the iPhone’s Wallet app with iOS 17 and will improve its location services.

Meanwhile, Apple has rolled out the iOS 16.5 software update for all users with a new feature ‘Sports tab’ in its News app.

The new tab serves as a hub for scores, match schedules, and articles on users’ favorite sports teams.
