Indian Railways is going to provide free meal facility in its premium trains. You will not have to pay any charge for this. Keep in mind that this facility will be given to the passengers only if the train is late and IRCTC itself will pay its fee. This facility has been implemented only for long distance premium trains like Duronto, Rajdhani, Shatabdi. If any of these trains do not reach their destination on time, then free food will be given to the passengers. However, the chances of these trains getting late are very less.
Why was the decision taken?
Let us tell that when the train is late, the passengers often face the problem of food. This is the reason that Indian Railways has taken this decision for the convenience of the passengers. In this, passengers will be given breakfast, lunch or dinner according to the time. Passengers will be able to choose any option (vegetarian or non-vegetarian) as per the time. You will also get free cold drinks and ice cream along with food items here. For this, you will not have to make any kind of payment. Talking about breakfast, tea, coffee, bread pakoras and cold drinks are provided by IRCTC for breakfast. At the same time, you can choose vegetarian or non-vegetarian option for lunch. Similarly, vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are available in dinner.
This facility will be available only if the train is late
The facility of free food will be available only if the train is late. According to the information, if the train is delayed by two hours or more, then IRCTC will take care of the food of the passengers. Let us tell you that Indian Railways has also arranged for the rest of the passengers at most of the railway stations. Where you can book a room and take rest when the train is late.
