Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has regained his place as the world’s best Test bowler in the ICC Test rankings after a brilliant performance against Bangladesh in Kanpur.
This is the second time that Bumrah has reached this top position. He has taken six wickets in the match, which includes three wickets each in the first and second innings. His current rating is 870 points, just one point ahead of his teammate Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin also performed brilliantly in the same match by taking five wickets.
The recent win not only helped Bumrah achieve a higher ranking but also took India to the top spot in the World Test Championship, which will help them qualify for their third consecutive final.
Newcomer Yashasvi Jaiswal also made headlines by making a spectacular jump to third place in the rankings for Test batsmen with innings of 72 and 51. There was no decline in his performance and he was awarded Player of the Match. Apart from this, Virat Kohli has also climbed six places and is back in the world top 10 at sixth position.
Important changes have also been seen in other players in the latest update of the rankings. Sri Lanka’s Prabhat Jayasuriya has moved up to a career-best seventh position after the series against New Zealand and Bangladesh’s Mehdi Hasan has also made impressive progress to fifth in the all-rounder list.
This change in the rankings is not only about the best talent, but also about the spirit of international cricket as teams prepare for future challenges.
