Lakshya Sen disappointed in Swiss Open as well, Srikanth and Manjunath made it to the second round

Basel: India’s star badminton player Lakshya Sen’s bad phase continues. Commonwealth Games champion Lakshya Sen crashed out in the first round of the Swiss Open badminton tournament. Apart from Lakshya, senior compatriot Kidambi Srikanth progressed to the next round of the BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament. At the same time, 2021 World Championship silver medalist Srikanth had to struggle to defeat China’s Wang Hong Yang 21-16 15-21 21-18.

Prior to the Swiss Open, Lakshya Sen could not show anything special in the All England Open.

Also from India, Mithun Manjunath made it to the men’s singles pre-quarterfinals with a straight game 21-8 21-17 win over Netherlands’ Joran Queeckel. He will now face qualifier Chia Hao Li of Chinese Taipei. In women’s doubles, the pair of Sikki Reddy and Aarti Sara Sunil also bowed out after losing in the first round.

India’s second seeded men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated Malaysia’s Jin Yuan Boon and Tien Si Wong 21-15 21-18 to book a place in the pre-quarterfinals.
