Limiting mobile phone use can help reduce CVD risk: Expert
New Delhi: According to a neurologist, limiting the use of mobile phones in making calls can help reduce the risk of heart diseases. On social media platform X, Dr Sudhir Kumar of Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals said, ‘Limiting the use of mobile phones along with other healthy lifestyle measures can be good for promoting heart health. Kumar further said, ‘Limiting the duration of taking and making calls is useful to reduce the risk of CVD.’ He suggested quitting smoking, ‘get good sleep and reduce psychological stress.’
He said this while citing a recent Chinese study published in the Canadian Journal of Cardiology, which showed an increasing link between mobile phone use and cardiovascular diseases such as stroke, coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation and heart attack. According to data from the International Telecommunication Union, the number of mobile phone subscribers worldwide has increased dramatically in recent decades and crossed 8.2 billion in 2020.
