Meta launches paid plans in the US

San Francisco. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that the company is launching its paid subscription plans for Facebook and Instagram in the US. First launched in Australia and New Zealand, the Meta Verified plan offers a verified label, better protection against impersonation, and direct access to customer support, reports The Verge.
Subscription plans cost $11.99 per month for web and $14.99 per month for mobile.
However, the US version of Meta Verified will not provide users with the increased visibility and reach benefits that it does in Australia and New Zealand.
Users must be 18 years or older, submit a photo of their ID to the company, meet minimum activity requirements, and also have two-factor authentication enabled.
The report states that once verified, users cannot change their username, profile name, date of birth or photo until they undergo verification again.
Last month inspired by Elon Musk-run Twitter, Meta announced it was testing payment verification for Instagram and Facebook.
Later, the company launched the paid subscription plan for users based in Australia and New Zealand.(IANS)
