On receiving information from nearby people, deceased Tumpa Devi’s father Thakur Napit and brother Hemlal Napit reached the spot and identified the body. Here, after the incident, railway officials informed the police. On receiving the information, SI Rambachan Singh of Jasidih police station along with police forces and Madhupur RPF personnel reached the spot and started investigation. The police prepared the panchnama of the dead bodies and sent them to Deoghar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. A passenger train ticket has also been recovered from the deceased. The woman was coming to her parents’ home to see her sick mother. Children were crossing the tracks from the opposite direction at the halt.

According to the information, the woman’s mother was not feeling well, to see whom she was going to her maternal home in Mathurapur along with her daughter and son by boarding the Asansol-Jasidih passenger train from Jamtara station on Wednesday. In the same sequence, as soon as the train stopped at Arjun Nagar halt, his son and daughter got down in the opposite direction and started crossing the railway track. At the same time, Patna-Howrah Janshatabdi Express train was coming in the down line. As soon as the woman saw the train, she ran to save her children, in which both mother and daughter died after being hit by the train. However, Tumpa Devi’s son’s life was saved by crossing the tracks.

According to family members, Tumpa Devi’s husband also died in a road accident three years ago, after which she was living in her maternal home and somehow supporting her family. The police is busy investigating this matter.
