Khan, who came from Lahore to Islamabad on Saturday to appear in a district court here, was targeted by the country’s ruling coalition. While Khan was in Islamabad, 10,000 armed personnel of the Punjab Police carried out a massive operation at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore, arresting several of his supporters and claiming to have recovered arms and petrol bombs.
Imran’s party will be banned: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sanaullah told a press conference on Saturday that the government will hold consultations with its legal team to assess whether there is a need to declare the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party a banned group, Dawn newspaper reported. Proceedings can be initiated. Sanaullah said, “Terrorists were hiding in Zaman Park. Weapons, petrol bombs etc have been recovered from Imran Khan’s residence which is enough evidence to file a case against PTI for declaring it a terrorist organization.
The idea of banning Maran Khan’s party: On the government’s plan to start the process of banning Khan’s party, the minister said, declaring any party as banned is primarily a judicial process. However, we will discuss this issue with our legal team. At the same time, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif appeared to agree with the claim of his niece and senior vice-president of PMN-L, Maryam Nawaz, that Khan’s party is a terrorist organization.
Significantly, a local court here on Saturday allowed Khan to return without indictment after appearing outside the court premises in a corruption case. Maryam took a jibe at the court for making Khan appear without appearing in the Toshakhana case and said, “I am surprised that he calls himself a leader.” Leaders are not afraid of going to jail and accountability. Only thieves and terrorists panic. The fear of arrest shows that the cases against him are correct.
