Mukesh Ambani’s announcement, Reliance will invest Rs 20 thousand crores here

Kolkata (Uttam Hindu News): Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Tuesday announced a plan for new investment of Rs 20 thousand crore in sectors like retail business, telecom and clean energy in West Bengal. At the ongoing seventh Bengal Global Business Summit in Kolkata, Ambani said, Reliance will leave no stone unturned in the development of Bengal. Reliance has so far invested about Rs 45,000 crore in Bengal. We will make an additional investment of Rs 20 thousand crore in the next three years.

He said that this investment of Rs 20 thousand crore will be made in telecommunication, retail and clean energy sectors. He said, we are taking 5G to every corner of the state, especially rural Bengal is being connected. We have ‘covered’ most parts of Bengal. Jio’s network ‘covers’ 98.8 per cent of the population in the state and 100 per cent of the population in the Kolkata telecom circle. Jio’s strong network will boost education, healthcare and agriculture in a big way along with employment generation in West Bengal.

Reliance Chairman said that Reliance Retail is planning to open about 200 new stores in West Bengal in the next two years. Currently, around 1000 Reliance stores are working in West Bengal, which will increase to 1200. Ambani said that hundreds of small and medium businessmen and about 5.5 lakh grocery shopkeepers of Bengal are associated with our retail business. They will benefit from the opening of new stores. Referring to many regional brands of Bengal like Prabhuji, Mukhrochak, City Gold, Bisq Farm, he said that through Reliance Retail we are taking these brands to the entire country.

He said Reliance, India’s largest clean energy producer, will set up 100 compressed biogas plants in the next three years. These plants will consume 55 lakh tonnes of agricultural residues and organic waste. This will help in reducing carbon emissions by about 20 lakh tonnes and will produce 25 lakh tonnes of organic fertilizer annually. He said, we will help farmers to set up energy plantations on a large scale, so that they can become energy providers along with food providers and their income will also increase.

On this occasion, Ambani also mentioned the work being done by Reliance Foundation in West Bengal. The most important among these is the renovation and revival of the famous Kalighat temple of Kolkata. Reliance Foundation is doing the repair and beautification work of this centuries old temple. Under the Foundation’s ‘Swadesh’ initiative, India’s rich and diverse traditional arts and crafts are being promoted in India and globally. Reliance Foundation will create a training institute for the young generation of craftsmen in Bengal with the help of the state government. The foundation will also sell the products of weavers, artisans and handicraftsmen on Reliance’s retail channels. For this, an agreement has been made with ‘Biswa Bangla Corporation’.
