The festival of Navratri is very important from religious and spiritual point of view. Navratri means nine days and nine nights of worship of Goddess Durga. This festival has its own significance in Hindu scriptures and it is celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm throughout the country. This time Shardiya Navratri will start from Pratipada Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month i.e. 3 October 2024 and it will end on Dussehra, which will be celebrated on Dashami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month i.e. 12 October 2024.

All the devotees are very excited about the Navratri festival and they are eager to worship Maa Durga for nine days. This period is so powerful that everyone wants to please Maa Durga as she is the ultimate feminine power, who can protect the devotees from all negativity and evil spirits.

Navratri 2024Importance: Navratri is one of the most revered festivals of the Hindus, which is celebrated with immense devotion and enthusiasm throughout the country. Navratri itself is derived from two Sanskrit words, ‘Nav’ meaning nine and ‘Ratri’ meaning nights. Each day of Navratri represents a different form of Goddess Durga. Devotees celebrate the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura. On the day of Vijayadashami or Dussehra, Goddess Durga killed the demon Mahishasura and established dharma in the universe. The festival reminds devotees that morality and truth always prevail in the end and represents the victory of righteousness over evil. Navratri also represents the power of feminine energy or Shakti. The festival honors the fierce, protective and caring qualities of the goddess as well as the strength of women.

How to install Ghatasthapana?

1.Take a Kalash filled with Ganga water and take some mango leaves and place them on top of the Kalash. Take a coconut, wrap it in red colored cloth and Kalava and place it on the Kalash. Take an earthen pot and fill it with soil. Sow some barley (jowar) and let them grow during these nine days. It should be kept watered.

2. Altar devotees take a wooden plank or wherever you want to keep the idol of Goddess Durga, first clean the place and spread a red colored cloth on it and then place the idol of Goddess Durga.

3. Durga idol installation: After installing the idol of Goddess Durga, devotees should light a lamp with desi cow ghee and offer garlands and flowers to Maa Durga. Decorate the idol with makeup items.

4. To invoke the idol, one should chant various Vedic mantras dedicated to the Goddess.

5. Mantra Chanting Mantra chanting is very important during these nine days period to please the Goddess and it can uplift you spiritually. You may feel connected to the divine feminine energy.
