A Bengaluru-bound Nepal Airlines flight on Saturday allegedly had a bird strike, forcing the aircraft to return to the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) here. The blade of the aircraft’s right wing was damaged, possibly due to the bird strike. According to TIA spokesperson Teknath Sitaula, the Nepal Airlines A320 aircraft landed safely at Tribhuvan International Airport and is being checked by technicians. News portal ‘Nepal News’ reported that the plane took off from TIA at 1:45 pm but had to return to the same airport after 25 minutes.

Officials said the blades of the right wing of the aircraft were damaged. The ‘Himalayan Times’ newspaper quoted TIA sources as saying that passengers of flight RA-225 reported hearing a loud noise. “The plane was diverted to Kathmandu on suspicion of a bird hit during take-off,” Sitaula said. Arrangements were made to transfer the passengers to another plane, according to ‘Nepal News’. Airport officials said the passengers left for Bengaluru on another flight from TIA. The A320 aircraft can seat up to 180 passengers.
