New employment opportunities for youth in Surat, emphasis on National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme. Loktej Surat, Business News
Surat. South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, National Skill Development Corporation, and Directorate General of Training jointly organized a workshop to emphasize on providing new employment opportunities to the youth under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS). Representatives of industry and government participated in the program.
Chamber of Commerce President, Vijay Mewawala said that the scheme is contributing significantly to skill development and employment in Gujarat. He appealed to the industries to give opportunity to more and more youth for training under this scheme.
It was told in the workshop that under NAPS, youth are given training in industries, due to which they get employment opportunities and industries get skilled employees. Ketan Patel, joint director, RSDED department, Gandhinagar, said that financial assistance is also provided to the trainees under this scheme.
Dr. Praveen Uke, Assistant Director, Board of Apprenticeship Training (West) said that it is very important to skill the youth in the country and NAPS is an important step in this direction. He informed that in the last 5 years in Gujarat, 31,399 youth have been given apprenticeship under NAPS.
Surat Regional Deputy Director, Ms. Ashaben Patel said that Surat district stands third in the list of highest number of trainees in the state. He appealed to take apprenticeship in the dyeing industry of Surat.
