Kathmandu: The number of tourists in Nepal has increased this year compared to last year. This has come to light in new official figures. According to the latest data, more than eight lakh foreign tourists visited Nepal in the first nine months of this year, an increase of 21 percent compared to the same period last year. According to data released by Nepal Tourism Board, 8,35,629 foreign tourists came to Nepal till September this year, while last year the number was 6,92,372.

According to news agency Xinhua, 96,305 foreign tourists arrived in Nepal in the month of September alone. This figure is 5.82 percent more than the same month last year. Board director Mani Raj Lamichhane said, this is the highest number of tourists in September. He told Xinhua that the largest number of foreign tourists are Indians, followed by Americans and Chinese. 11,97,191 foreigners came to Nepal in the year 2019 and it is expected that this record will be broken this year.
