Multan. Pakistani Taliban fighters attacked a police post in eastern Punjab province late Saturday night, killing one officer and injuring three others. Two attackers were killed in the encounter that followed this attack. This information was provided by officers. Anti-terrorist police spokesperson Imran Nawaz said that the attack took place in Mianwali district of Punjab province. He said that when additional security personnel reached the post surrounded by terrorists, an encounter started between the two sides.
He said that a group of 10 to 12 terrorists attacked Kundal police post located in Isa Khel area of Mianwali after midnight. Nawaz said that two attackers were killed during the encounter between security forces and terrorists that lasted for several hours. He said that another terrorist was also injured in the encounter but he managed to escape along with his other associates. The spokesperson said that a search operation is going on in the area to find the attackers. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan spokesman Mohammad Khurasani claimed responsibility for the attack.
