Pakistani film ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ starring Fawad Khan will not be released in India.
Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan starrer ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’, which has earned well in Pakistan, will not be released in the Indian state of Punjab on Wednesday, as already announced.
The distribution holder of the film confirmed this on Tuesday. Nadeem Mandviwala told PTI that an Indian ministry has obtained a stay order from a court against the release of the film, so its release has now been put on hold.
“Unfortunately its release has once again been stalled and no one can do anything until the court gives its verdict,” said Mandviwala, one of Pakistan’s top distributors, exhibitors and cinema owners. Said that whenever the release of the film is possible in India, it will be a big step for the Pakistani industry.
India had banned the release of Pakistani films in the country after the Pulwama terror attack incident in 2019 and the Pakistan government, in response, had also banned the release of Indian films in the country. The last Pakistani film to release in India was 2011’s ‘Bol’ starring Humaima Malik and Atif Aslam.
