Los Angeles. American socialite Paris Hilton has said that her on-screen image was a trauma response and a way of dealing with the crises she faced in her life. The 42-year-old TV personality shot to fame on the show The Simple Life, in which he and his friend Nicole Richie ditched their lavish lifestyles to live a more modest life, reports mirror.co.uk.
The star spoke to Rylan Clarke and Jermaine Janus on The One Show about her book Paris Hilton: The Memoir, where she recounted the bad experiences of her teenage years.

Hilton has told how she was drugged and raped at age 15, touched inappropriately by a teacher and sexually assaulted while at boarding school in Utah.
Paris was already a well-known name in New York social circles as a multibillionaire and a model, reports mirror.co.uk, when she starred in The Simple Life, a show that ran for four years.
The One Show host Germaine asked Hilton if she was two characters, and did she find herself torn between the real Paris Hilton and the character she created?

The TV star replied: I think what I was going through was a trauma response where I created this Barbie doll fantasy character. So that I didn’t have to think about what I was doing. And then I got The Simple Life and then I had to keep playing that character season after season and then almost got into it because I got used to it. It was a mask of sorts to deal with all the pressure.
