People remember my songs, not my character: Shilpa Shetty

New Delhi. From ‘Main Aayi Hoon UP Bihar Lootne’, ‘Aila Re’ to ‘Jeene Ke Ishaare’ and ‘Shut Up and Bounce’, Shilpa Shetty has given many iconic songs, which are still a hit among the people. The actress says that fans may forget my films, but my songs are always remembered.

Talking about the songs as well as the characters she played being memorable, Shilpa told IANS, I am happy that people feel that way.

Shilpa, who debuted with ‘Baazigar’ in 1993, said, ‘I think the films of the 90s were gold. You can forget films, maybe my films did not do well at the box-office, but my songs always perform well. You may not remember the name of the character played by me, but you will definitely remember the names of my songs.

The Mangalore-born star credits her career to music.

The actress further said, ‘I give all credit to music because many of our careers are based on it. I did films with all the music companies because they found me lucky and I also emphasize how important music is.

The actress believes that music plays an important role in making films a hit.

Shilpa said, ‘In today’s time, music has become extinct and I feel that in all big films if the music is not good then it is not a commercially viable film. When there is music, people and children connect with it. When you connect with the public and children, you achieve a new success.

In the series ‘Indian Police Force’ directed by Rohit Shetty, Shilpa plays the role of Tara Shetty, a strong-willed policewoman. It also stars Sidharth Malhotra and Vivek Oberoi.
