New Delhi: Last year, when Russia attacked Ukraine, crude oil had gone up to $139 a barrel. After that it has declined significantly. Right now it is hovering around $73 per barrel. In this way, the price of crude oil at the international level has almost halved. But there has been no change in the price of petrol and diesel in the country since May. Oil marketing companies last changed the price of petrol and diesel during the month of April last year. After this, in May, the Center reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel. Since then, the price of petrol and diesel has remained the same while the price of crude oil has changed drastically during this period. Petrol price in Delhi is Rs 96.72 and diesel is Rs 89.62 per liter on Saturday.

When will the price of petrol and diesel come down?

Sources say that at present there is no hope of any relief in the price of petrol and diesel in the country. This is because Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have suffered losses in the past quarters due to high crude oil prices. Now their loss is Rs 18,000 crore. Oil companies may take time to recover from this loss. That’s why there is no hope of getting relief in the price of petrol and diesel. Due to the banking crisis in America, the price of crude oil has come down. There are chances of further deepening of this crisis in the coming days. Due to this, the price of crude oil can go down further.
