Prime Minister Narendra Modi can release the 18th installment of PM Kisan Yojana on October 5, 2024. This scheme provides financial assistance to all the farmer families in India who own land. The scheme, launched in 2018 by the NDA government, aims to provide financial assistance to small and marginal farming families across India.
Under this scheme, eligible farmers get Rs 6,000 per year in three installments of Rs 2,000 each. These payments are transferred directly to the bank accounts of farmers through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The 17th installment of the PM-Kisan scheme was released earlier this year in June 2024, in which the government distributed around Rs 20,000 crore to 9.3 crore farmers. Now, with the festive season approaching, the 18th installment is set to release on October 5.

Requirement of eKYC for PM-Kisan beneficiaries
An important step for farmers to receive their payments under the PM-Kisan scheme is to complete the mandatory electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) process.
There are three ways to complete the eKYC process:
OTP-based eKYC: This is the simplest option and can be done through the PM-Kisan website. Farmers will have to enter their Aadhaar number and registered mobile number, after which a one-time password (OTP) will be sent to their mobile. Entering the OTP completes the eKYC process.
Biometric-based eKYC: Farmers who are unable to complete the OTP-based process can visit their nearest Common Service Center (CSC) or State Service Center to complete the biometric-based authentication. The operator will scan the farmer’s fingerprint or iris for verification.
Face Authentication-based eKYC: This method is available through the PM-Kisan mobile app, where farmers can authenticate their identity using facial recognition.
These steps must be completed to ensure timely receipt of the 18th installment of ₹2,000.
