Included in those 102-page records is an office letter warning Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officials in Boston and New York to be “vigilant for any danger” ahead of a 1989 trip to the US East Coast , which was issued after the death of the Queen.

Newly released FBI files have revealed that US security officials were concerned about threats from the Irish Republican Army (IRA) during a visit to the US by former Queen Elizabeth II. This information was received from media reports. Included in those 102-page records is an office letter warning Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officials in Boston and New York to be “vigilant for any danger” ahead of a 1989 trip to the US East Coast , which was issued after the death of the Queen.

The Queen of Britain died in September last year at the age of 96. Other details included information received by police about threats from a man believed to be an IRA sympathizer who wanted to avenge his daughter’s death. The whistleblower claimed to have received a phone call from a man a month before the then US President Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy Reagan hosted the Queen and her husband Prince Philip in 1983, Sky News reported. According to the office paper, the man said his daughter had been killed by rubber bullets in Northern Ireland.

“The man also claimed that he was trying to harm Queen Elizabeth,” the secret document said. He said that he would drop an object on the Queen when the Royal Yacht Britannia passed under the Golden Gate Bridge or would try to kill Queen Elizabeth when she visited Yosemite National Park. Records relating to threats to the late Queen’s life were released following a Freedom of Information request.
